Nails and holidays!!
I typically don't like to photograph my hands but
I couldn't help it when I got done painting my nails.
I know they didn't turn out just right but they do have that cute factor.
Simple, quick and fun.
What more could you want?
I used...
- toothpick
- Clear top/bottom coat
- white, pink, red & raspberry polish colors with a touch of glitter...
Thats about it :)
Simple, Right?
O and the heart I did with a toothpick as well. Just outlined a heart in dot formation then filled it in!
Enjoy and Happy Valentines Day.
Until Tomorrow

Conversational Hearts [diy craft]
What do you do when there's a snow storm?
Well you skype one of your best friends and make crafts.
What else is there to do?
This is how it turned out...
(She wrote in hers, I didn't)
Photo credits go to Teresa over at Twisted Wire |
(my dog also really like mine, she kept growling at the others
to get away when they were in front of her... Silly dog)
First gather your
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Flour
- 1 Cup Salt
- 1 Cup Water
- Food Coloring (as many colors as you would like)
- Cookie Cutter (heart shaped)
Directions:
Mix flour, salt and water together.
In hopes that it will be like a sugar cookie dough just not as tasty.
Separate dough into balls (I did four)
Mix in food coloring to each ball
Dust cutting board with flour (this is a must)
Dust top of dough ball with flour (this is a must to)
Roll out... Thickness is your choice.
Cut with cookie cutter and place on cookie sheet :)

Tips and tricks:
Because I did this with a friend we made about a total of three batches.
With each one we learned something new. For instance...
She added the food coloring to the water for one of her batches.
I just dived the dough and added it straight to my separate balls of dough.
Then we both had the problem of them puffy up durning baking...
So we soon found out that you can apply pressure to them before you put them in the oven that helps prevent the puffiness. For example, if you take your already made (not baked) hearts that are on the cookie sheet and apply wax paper with another flat surface of some sort that should do the trick :)
Oven time and temp:
Then you bake them at 250 degrees for about an 1 1/2
Which really will depend on oven and thickness of your hearts.
The hearts can also be poked with a straw to create a hole for ribbon if you choose to hang them.
They do make really cute hanging decorations as well.
Finishing touches:
Use a red marker of some sorts to write on them
or feel free use what ever color/colors you choose.
String with ribbon if you put holes in yours...
Then volia your done.
Easy as 1..2...3...

Side Notes:
I'm thinking about making large ones to hang on the back of my bar stools.
Teresa also thought it would be really cute to make them for her kids classroom so they can all decorate them. Or even make them as Valentines to give away in the classroom. They are so very easy to personalize :)

Youtube Tuesday!
So lets see how this goes. This is my first or hopefully many "Youtube Tuesdays".
Each Tuesday I will share a crafty video of some sorts. To help spread the Creative fever around the web. May we go forth and make pretty things :)
Okay, Now back to the Video...
I wanted to show this video for two reasons.
1. She out creativity and a special touch on a wide known song
2. I feel that it helps speak out about bullying
Wasn't that nicely done?
I thought so :)

Before & After [Chairs]
"Goodwill Hunting"
Thats not a movie but more of an action that I like to do when I have spare time and cash.
Going to the Goodwill or Salvation army can have many different outcomes.
Sometimes I just simply feel disappointed because they over priced all their items,
I didn't get there soon enough so all the good items are gone,
or I find something really awesome and it turns in to a project for me :)
Thats what happened when I went hunting for chairs. I knew that computer chairs are hard to come by
(at least ones that aren't broken) especially at any a thrift store. The cost of a normal computer chair is just insane though. Now way was I going to fork out that kind of money just so I could have something that swivels.
With all that in mind I went "Hunting" and I went to three different place trying to make sure that I was going to make the right choice. Of course the first place that I went to had exactly what I wanted. I went to the fabric store before going to buy the chairs. To just simply make sure that this wasn't going to be a crazy project.... and it wasn't. See for yourself :)
A little spray paint and fabric is what turned these very ugly chairs into some really stylish ones :) And before I forget... this project cost under $20.
Two chairs with my personal touch for under $20 bucks who can beat that?

- Staple Gun
- Scratcher or sand paper
- Chairs
- Screw Driver
- Spray Paint
Pick fabric, Cut frabic
Take staple gun and start stapling around, while pulling fabric taught

Volia, your done :)

Five Dollar Friday (Favorites)
I have two dogs and one cat.
Plus I just became a foster parent to a very cute puppy named Abby.
So I'm always in needs for something to destain my carpet.
And...
Spot Shot is that something.
I can't say enough about this stuff.
Their pet one is also very much amazing.
I only wish it wasn't so high at Safeway.
But I did recently find some and it was under $5
So that is why I'm sharing :)
So if you have some new, old, or tough stains then I recommend Spot Shot.
I do love all natural cleaners and homemade one as well but nothing really works like this stuff. What's strange is I only started using it after my older dog got a bladder infection and starting having accidents.
May you have clean and spotless carpets...
Or at least spotless.
I feel like my carpets are really never clean. I even own a mini carpet cleaner by Bissle.
P.S.
I also recently made my own laundry soap...
AND...
It works wonderfully!!!
